Real Women Watch Football

Time and time again, I have heard men complain about their women bothering them while the football game is on. I have heard the same men requesting that dinner be cooked and the house be cleaned while they seemingly sit around and do nothing. I have also heard the women complain that their men were choosing their love of the game over their love of weekly preparation duties for the good of the family.

Well news flash - I didn’t grow up like that. On Sundays, we watched the games as a family. Mom would even pretend to like it, and Dad was pleased. My siblings and I would watch passionately, yelling at the television as if the players, coaches, and referees could hear us. Dinner was a group effort. Household chores were done on commercial breaks. It was a whole production. Every single week.

So, I feel perplexed when I encounter people who don’t plan their lives around football season. I mean, I don’t judge, but I do wonder deeply - Why? How? What else is life about? To each their own, I guess. But damn. Just know where I will be, especially on Sundays from August to February. Oh, and don’t forget Thursdays and Mondays, and Saturdays if you count college Football. Anyway, you get the picture!
